The Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) is pleased to announce its first competition for grants under the VijayashankerFoundation Award forstudents interested in pursuing an undergraduate (Bachelor's) degreein the field of Actuarial Science at a regionally accredited US university in the fall of 2008.
Amount and Period of Award
The Vijayashanker Foundation will provide partial tuition scholarshipup to two years in the US for this competition. Preference will begiven to candidates from American Degree twinning or transfer programs(ADP) at local colleges. This award will only cover the tuition in theUS.
Eligibility
To be considered for selection under this program, students shall:
1. Possess Malaysian citizenship;
2. Be no more than 30 years of age at the time of application;
3. Completed at least first semester of second year of ADP;
4. Have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.33 during ADP;
5. Demonstrate quantitative ability through the ADP program;
6. TOEFL and SAT requirements are based on the student's school ofchoice. If your university does not require these tests forapplication, you are NOT required to submit the tests results to MACEEor vice versa.
7. Students are not required to be accepted to a US university inorder to apply for this scholarship, but students are REQUIRED toapply and be accepted to a US university by May 2008 in order to fullyqualify for the award if they are nominated by the committee.
Application Procedures
1. Students can download the application form from www.macee.org.my
2. The completed application and supporting documents can be sent bymail or handdelivered to MACEE, but must arrive NO LATER THAN March 28th, 2008, to beconsidered. MACEE is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pleasecontact MACEE for further information.
3. Applications received after said date will not be processed.
4. Students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to meet an educational advisor attheir collegeor MACEE for admission information into US Universities.

Competition Timetable February 15th, 2008 – March 28th, 2008
Applicants meet with Commission officers for advice in selecting and applying to appropriate institutions in the US . At this time period, students should also beprepared to apply to the schools of their choice.
• March 28th, 2008 DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF COMPLETEDAPPLICATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.
• February 2008 Evaluation of applications and short listing of students.• April 2008 Interview by the Selection Committee.
• April 2008 Nominations by the Selection Committee presented to MACEEBoard for review and approval.
• May 2008 Announcement of the competition results.
• May-June 2008 Students receive admission decisions from the US schools• June/July 2008 Pre-departure orientation.
• August 2008 Depart for the U.S.
